  1. Hello, If I use MME to capture/convert DV to mpg after its done I hit stop capture and it comes up with a window that says "processing....." but just hangs.... anyone encounter this or have a fix for it? I have tried to set the setting to stop capture after a certain time but it just ignores that as well.....

    THANKS

It is still processing from the buffer ? Have you been patient and left it for a while to see if it stops of it's own accord ?

  3. it just sits there, no HD activity, no process activity..... I did leave it sit for maybe 15 minutes or so...

I have done some more reading around here and read that its better to just transfer then convert rather then on the fly because you could end up with a loss of quality, either cuase the pc stinks or the software isnt good enough.....

I have the general idea of how to ultimately do this, its just each piece of software has like 1000 options and I dont know what they all do or mean. and usually the help file or instructions are useless....

I have recently read that TMPGENC is much SUPERIOR to MC and delivers the best quality at the expense of time, I hope they are talking about ver 3 xpress, so I think I may switch to that software... But again, i dont know, i am going by what i read, and what people say in replies...

    Thank you for the reply!

MC is very good but the stuff you are seeing may be due to errors with capture that MC is trying to compensate for, that is why it appears to be sitting and doing nothing... The superiority of TMPGEnc over MC has not been proven by any streach of imagination. Quality is about the same with MC being much faster. Capture to DV, use both, choose the one that suits you better. I use MC a lot and have no reasons to complain.
