I am trying to back up my copy of the Exorcist.
I used the latest copy of DVDDecrypter 3.5.4, ripped it.
Used DVDShrink, opened the video folder, it was analyzed backed up and burned it.

I put it in my player and I got disc error.

I put it back in DVDShrink to see if it can analyze and I get a "cyclic redundancy error"

I put it in my computer and PowerDVD won't play it either.

AnyDVD gives my an error telling me that my drive is a locked RPC2 drive and is not assigned a region.

I don't understand everything worked fine before.

    Please Help

Did you try some different media besides those?
What kind of a burner are you using? Does it have newest FW?

I have been using Riteks for a long time with no problems the problem started this weekend.

I Back up the Exorcist on my other computer using DVDXcopy and it plays back fine on my DVD player and on Power DVD. But DVDShrink still gives me an error

It's got to be a firmware problem but I don't know anything about firmware I know it can damage my drive

    My burner is a LG : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4082B

I've heard about DVD Region Killer is this safe

    Please let me know.

You maybe got a bad batch of Riteks.
That seems to be quite common lately.
Why don't you try some different discs.

OK, first things first. cyclic redundancy error is nothing else but CRC error, the checksum for whatever block indicates (does not match original value) that data in this block is corrupted. Do a disc scan, K-probe or Nero (surface scan and/or data scan). Reason: bad media or data transfer error when the disc was created. Shite happens...

I tried cleaning the disc put it in shrink it started analyzing but still got "cyclic redundancy error" when reached vob 7. I did the same thing in both computers got same error at the same place. Both computers have the same burners.

    Computer 1

    Back up 1
    -ripped with DVDDecrypter
-opened DVDShrink, opened video_ts folder anlalysed and burned
    - the disc would not playback in my DVD player, PowerDVD
    Back 2
-I used DVDxcopy to back up, same thing won't playback in DVD player PowerDVD & DVDShrink couldn't analyse it's total coaster

    Computer 2

    Back up 1
    - I used DVDxcopy to back up, played fine in DVDplayer, PowerDVD but got "cyclic redundancy error" when tried to back up my back up copy using DVDshrink

What is the problem Media or Firmware I've been using Ritek's for a long time with no problem but this is the first I ever made a back up that didn't play in my DVD player or PowerDVD.

I never have problem backing up I can't beleive this

My guess It can't be firmware because this problem just started now.
It must be media or bad burn but I have used my burner for 100's of successful burns (with my HD never over 3/4 full)

How do you control "cyclic redundancy error", how do you prevent it

I should have no problem backups that DVDshrink should have no problem analysing, just like before.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Please

One more question, does "cyclic redundancy error" affect playback in DVDplayers

I never had a chance to blow 2 hours and watch the Back up in player.

Yes, it can affect playback of that section. Do a scan so you can see what is happenning. If this only hppened to a couple of disks, it might just be a booboo. But if this is a new stack of disks, you may have gotten a bad batch. You can try slowing down the burn or seeing if there is a newer, better firmware for the burner.

I like to verify my rips by using Media Player Classic to play the movie files right from the hard drive before burning , then I use it again to play the DVD after the burn.

I burn at Max with Nero via DVDshrink.

If my media is good and I slow down my burns, where do I get good firmware Is DVD Region killer safe

Once again I have 2 burner one on each computer
    LG : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4082B

If firmware is the problem can let me know where to get a safe one I don't want to ruin my burners

Corrupted VOB is a corrupted VOB just like a corrupted download file, ever had that?
Do a surface scan and it will tell you if this is a media issue. This is is not firmware related, typically. Read my previous post. Shrink is not meant to test media so your scenarios do not apply.

Thanks turns out it was a media problem a bad batch, I tried a new source because he was cheaper, big mistake Went back to my old source and everything was fine. No more "cyclic redundancy errors"
