Nero 5.5.5.1 not able to burn avi

Nero is supposed to be able to do on the fly conversion from avi to VCD and then Burn or create image file(your choice). I am able to take a .mpg file in VCD Compliant form and burn to cd with nero just fine however if I try to let nero do the conversion on an uncompressed avi, it stops after the message 'encoding file' or something like that. The computer just sits there with the status window open with no writes to the HD and no Burn to the CD. Anyone else have this problem?

Nope.

Try Nero V 5.5.4.0

Doing the same thing as you with AVI files, works no problems.

Poss. a nero problem as most nero's past v 5.5.10 have dvd, dvdr, dvdrw etc etc. support.

Any problems with nero 5.5.4.0 or above E-mail me direct, as getting quite good with it (Thanks to this site) !

That was good advice. I tried the older version and it worked. I also tried the most recent version 5.5.6.4 and it works as well. There must be some bug in the 5.5.5.1 version that got fixed.
