I have recorded 2 hours worth of video via the passthrough feature of my JVC GRD94 camera. I know I had some trouble with field order in Procoder with my PicVideo files.

I have not had time to play around and test and was curious what the field order is for DV files.

    Thanks!

dv .avi's are lower-field first (but I guess there's always that one exception)...

Well, PicVideo is not DV, so it can change the order.

    DV is bottom field first.

Why don't you just "capture" to DV?

Actually I am transferring to DV format not capturing. I will play around with Procoder this weekend and set it to Lower first.

    Thanks!!

When you use a PassThrough device, you are, in essence, digitizing and compressing to the DV format (in hardware). This will automatically set the field order to LowerFieldFirst. Assuming you "Capture" the incoming stream (or Transfer or whatever you want to call it), the resulting DV-AVI file will still be LFF.
Set your ProCoder settings accordingly, depending on what you want to do with the file from there.

That's exactly what I am doing. I kinda am capturing so in a sense it's not a transfer. I will give it a try this weekend.

    Thanks!

Procoder will by default use lower field first for MPEG2 from DV source. No need to tinker.
