  1. I am using vegas 4.0. My system is a Toshiba Satellite 2410-S203 P4 1.8GHz 768 MB RAM and an external 200GB HD, and NEC 2510A DVD writer.

I have made a 50 minute video project and the final product has small jumps in the video throughout the entire length, there is no problem with the audio. When rendering I turned off all nonessential processes including antivirus. I selected best quality under the custom options. If I select just a short loop section of the project to render the same thing happens, but some other clips like the credits I can edit and render separately and it comes out fine.

Is this a problem in my hardware configuration? Video card? Or something with Vegas? I have been working on this for a couple months now and this is making me crazy.

  2. It sounds like the credits are progressive video and the rest is interlaced. So in your Vegas project try File - Properties - Video - Field Order set to 'Lower Field First'. If it is set to that try 'Upper Field First'. Just test a short section of the video.

  3. It's been a while since I dealt with this in Vegas. I just remembered that you have to set the field order when you render. Use the Custom button.

  4. I tried changing from lower to higher and did a small section - it seems to have worked. Will now redo the whole thing and hope it was the problem. Thanks.
