  1. I have had version 9a on my HD since it was first available and have used it successfully, but have not had need to use it until just recently. I am operating on OSX Jaguar 2.8 since Oct. 2003. I have not decided when I will upgrade to Panther as the computer is a unsupported Mac Clone Umax S900 using XPost Facto to install OSX.

Back in Febuary I went to load ffmpeg to use on a project to combine some video clips. After double clicking the icon I get the following two messages.

AppleScript Error: No result was returned from some part of this expression (-2763)

I clicked OK and then another
    AppleScript Error: NSArgumentEvaluationScriptError (3)

After those two messages nothing further happened and I had to quit the application. Tried installing the version 9h with the same results.

Any help interpreting this would be appreciated. All Apple system software upgrades have been installed as they were released. I am at a lost to explain why I am getting these two error messages since the last time ffmpeg was used I had no problems.

  2. Thanks for the quick response Major.

Unfortunately as has been the experience of some other s downloading that AppleScript file at Version Tracker it will not install. It keeps telling me I don't have OSX installed. BTW I have two machines both with Jaguar 2.8 installed and running and I tried both of them with the same result. BTW I also tried a download directly from the Apple site with the same result.

I downloaded version9k and tried to open it and got the same error message as before. The peculiar thing is that I was using the 9a without any problems last year as I mentioned earlier.

One thing just came to mind , sometime last year in the fall I opened ffmpeg to split a video into two parts so that I could burn a VCD from it. I don't remember whether it was a AVI or a MPG. I could not get it to work at all an had no previous problems using that function. So I just let it go, stashed the video on a HD for later, as I had more important things to do at the time.

If you have any other thoughts please advise.. In the mean time I am going to see if I can set up the ffmpeg on my sons dual G4 1.25Ghz machine that he has in his office which is running Panther, and see if I can get it to work. The machines are networked so I may be able to transfer the work to his machine if everything goes smoothly with the install.
