  1. I have a divx file which i need to be able to fit onto a cd but it is just too big to fit on the cd. How can i compress the divx to make it smaller. I am sure there is a really simple solution (or at least i hope there is).

  2. Recompress it with a lower bitrate with VirtualDub or some other program.

A quicker solution is to cut it in half with VirtualDub in "direct stream copy" mode. Put it on two CDs.

  4. the annoying thing is that it is only about 710 MB. i had thought about simply zipping it but i thought i might as well make the movie a bit smaller, as i am giving it to someone, who will prbably not want to have to unzip it each time.
i tried with VirtualDub, but i tried to use the Compression option under Video and selected Divx but it wasnt having any. i will try with just changin bitrate straight off.

  6. Hmm, did you try overburn in the burning application? Should work if your burner support overburn.
Alternatively you can use an utility called mode2CDmaker. With it you can fit 800 MB divx/xvid avi at 700 MB CD. Though for playback you should install riff CD/XA filters for XCD.

  7. i have roxio easy cd creator 6. some sites says it supports overburn and some says it doesnt. either way i dunno how to use it. i would rahter find a way without needing to install new stuff on any computer that it may be used on.

    Divx doesn't suit that requirement.

  9. Perhaps you could just lower the bitrate of the audiostream ?

  10. yeah i know about the need of divx codecs. what i meant was that extra thing that was mentioned to run the cd when that other program is used. i'll try the audio bitstream
