  1. I have Nerovision Express 2 and have so far only used it for DVD copying and hard drive backups. Just started doing a relatively simple DVD project, taking lots of boring old videos and editing them down to the highlights for inclusion on a DVD.

After going through this long exercise though, I wound up with a silent DVD!

When I started, I had a bunch of .vob files. They had sound.

By adding them to my Nerovision project, they got broken down into a bunch of .mpg files. These files also had/have sound.

But as soon as NVE touches them and saves them in any format, the resultant file is silent, whether played in WMP, or played on a PC-based DVD player, or played on a DVD player connected to my television.

Could someone guide me though what I'm supposed to do to edit files (.vob or .mpg) using NVE and come up with a burnable DVD that plays on a DVD player and has sound? Bonus points if I won't need to again go through the hundreds of painful hours of editing I did to get a two-hour silent movie.

I'm not experienced at this, so please try not to throw too many terms like "transcoding" at me. And I'm not planning on doing a lot of video editing, so I don't want to purchase new software. I've seen lots of others posting about this problem, but every explanation offered to them tends to go off into technospeak that's over my head, or tell people they need to get about four different pieces of software for separate steps of the process. I just want something that will allow me to "enjoy" all that funny footage of my mother playing frisbee with our dog! It can't be *THAT* hard to get that on DVD when I already have the mpg files, can it?

    A few other points:

    1. I already checked my video options in NVE2. The audio tab has a grayed out sound option, selected for LPCM.

    2. I have NVE 2.1.2.9

    3. I ran Nero's InfoTool on my system and have a boatload of other information that I could share, but I don't think it's relevant to this post.

Again, all I want to do is take some files that exist on my computer in mpg format, and put them onto a DVD so they can be played - *with sound* - on my DVD player. It's not rocket science. What am I screwing up?

  2. I'm going to do something I try to avoid and "bump" this topic, as it's been almost 24 hours since I originally posted it, and I've received no response.

Before seeking help here, I have spent more than 12 hours trying to research this in google, in newsgroups, and of course here. Although I have found many people expressing similar problems, I've yet to find a solution I understand, or one that has worked for me.

Since I have read about many other people successfully making DVDs using the Nerovision Express tool, I know it's a doable thing.

I tried to provide as much useful information in my post as I could, plus way more information in my profile. I'm willing to answer any questions asked of me by knowledgeable people who are in a position to help.

Absent input from anyone else, I'll refrain from bumping again. But I think I have a solveable problem, I admit that the error is probably on my end and not on the software's end, and if I omitted any relevant information in my original post, I don't know what that could be.

Hoping for help from someone here, please...
