is there a way on a PC to convert a HDTV stream (either .TS or program stream) to H.264/AVC? HDTV is taking up way too much space on my hard drive.

you can always use dgindex to open the ts and frameserve the video to any h264 encoder.

Celtic_Druid has a recent build of x264 for VFW

    Look for x264vfw.exe

H264 is still pretty new, and while the codec has made some big strides even in the past few months, it still has a way to go. Makes sense to encode your big TS files into it, but carefully check the resulting file.
