  1. I'm having some problems backing up some of my DVDs for my upcoming trip (don't want to take the originals..who know what the baggage people will do)...

And on some of them, the DVD freezes on the last chapters of the movie. I've used both Nero Re-encode and the DVD Decrypter/DVD shrink method and they both seem to give the same results.

I can't determine the reason because it seems to be hit or miss. I suspect it's the media (I'm using generic DVDs with printable faces..I got them as a Xmas gift)

Anyone else have the same problem. If it's the media, can some one recommend good media that I can pick up at local Best Buy/Circuit city etc. ??

BTW, I have an Optorite 4x DVD burner (don't have the model number on me at the moment.

    Thanks

  4. I have had both bad media and labels as causes of this problem. Check what brand of media you are using with dvd info or some program like it.

  5. They are DVD that you can print directly on the DVD.

I'll have to check DVD type..didn't know about DVDinfo til today. Thanks.

I'm guessing I'm using the for 4.3 amount as it's already being compressed by about 60%

I'm going to try to get Sony 50-Pack 8x DVD-R from Best Buy. Anyone have any problems with these burning ?

    Thanks for the help

  6. Also, have you tried playing the backups on different players? I have one apex that sometimes doesn't like my backups, but they will play back fine on my pc, rca portable, and panasonic. If they work in the spots your unit has problems at, it could be the player.
