Okay this is my situation in short form:
1. i make music videos for fun and that is the purpose of this topic
2. i want to rip episodes onto my computer with a smaller size then what i am getting.
3. currently i am using DVD Decrypter, and i rip the VOB off and i convert it to MPEG with TMPGEnc Express. the files are 630 mB for a 22 min episode. taht is a bit big...and i know it can be smaller, im a "newb" i guess at ripping ^_^.
i looked at the guides and did not understand half of them and the other half had nothing that directly relates to this situation.
can i get some help with this please? i figure that the files shoudl be more like 220-240mB becuase a 4 min song in MPEG = approx 40-50mb.
thanks in advance.

Here's a bitrate calculator:https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm
You can use it to see what size a video will be when encoded. You adjust the bitrate lower to make the filesize smaller. Too small and the quality suffers. Also using AC3 audio or at least MPEG-1, layer 2 will make the filesize smaller.
If you plan to store these on computer for viewing, DIVX may be a better solution. It is much more compact than MPEG and you can use MP3 audio. -
ahh thank you i will try this tomarrow, (really late right now)
if you dont mind me asking, could u explain how to do it in avi? or point me to a guide thats easy to follow ^_^
i plan to make music videos with the episodes i rip. i just bought them off ebay and wnated to do it fast, and i was goign to store them on a cd or something so i wouldnt have to re-rip it everytime (Say i got a new idea for a video that would require me to use it).
thanks in advance! -
Here's one guide to get you started. It uses Virtualdub (Freeware) for DIVX or other AVI conversion.
https://www.videohelp.com/avi2divx.htm
There are several ways to do it, and many types of AVI formats. Virtualdub is a good tool to learn how to use. It does conversions, filtering, frameserving to TMPGEnc, simple editing, many other things in several AVI formats. -
thank you very much i will use these as best i can and post if i have any more problems

I really doubt you got a virus from this site, but you should PM Baldrick (The administrator of this site) with that info.
