  1. I have been trying to convert a video file in mpeg format to dvd format .
I tried various converters but it still comes out the same. The burned dvd will not play in any machine that I tried. It keeps saying " unsupported file format". I also tried Main Concept Mpeg encoder but that didn't work either. ( Maybe my settings are wrong). Any help would be appreciated.

  3. I started the mpeg decoder added the file ,set it to dvd and started convert. After the encode I then burned it to dvd and when trying to play it (5 tries at encoding), it still says unsupported file format. The one thing that I did notice is that I am not getting video ts files after encoding.

  4. One thing that I forgot to mention was that the video was originally burnt
to vcd with nero express. Then it was put back on the hard drive .It was then that I tried to encode it for dvd.

  5. so...what is the file extention for the file now...before attempted conversion....??

    And....how large a file in MB's

I have used MainConcept's MPEG program a lot with excellent results. You have to take its output to TMPGenc Author to produce DVD compliant files before burning to DVD.

  7. If it is standart VCD (that means 1150 kbps CBR mpeg1 for video and 224 kbps Mpeg1 layer 2 at 44.1 Khz for audio) you must resample the audio to 48 khz and author. VCD standart video file is supported on DVD.

Also,I have encoded 2 other avi files with main concept and then burned with nero and had no problem playing on dvd. These were put on the hard drive the same as the first one .
