  1. I have a self built box with a 32-bit AMD Athlon XP. I also have a great assortment of video files,AVI,MPG,ect. I'm trying to convert the files into a format that can be authored into a dvd. I have all the necessary software, and i can successfully convert an AVI movie into a mpeg2 and burn it to a dvd and it plays in my home dvd player. However the quaility is just a little off. When there is fast moving motion during the movie, you can see some "choppyness",if that is a worrd, and I suspect this defiency is coming from my processor.

My question is: Should i move to P4 hyper threading motherboard and CPU? Just wondering if anyone thinks this would have enough power to convert large video files into burnable DVD's?

I'm using Cucusoft to convert the file and tmpge or Cucusoft to athour and burn to disk. Could it be the software?

    Thanks in advance !! Densbucs@verizon.net

  2. Its not your CPU, I would say it has to do with your software and the way it encodes the video,But then again I have never use Cucusoft,This is an All in One encoder?

But Anyhow your CPU wouldnt do this.

  3. I agree with CT and it's prolly more on the lines of your software when it encoded from the AVI to the MPG2 format.

I used to expirence this quite often when making xvid VCDs during high action / alot of movement scenes.

If your thinking of going P4/HT why not invest in a dvd burner? Took me a long time to make the jump but couldn't be more happier now that I did.

  4. THanks for the quick feedback. I have a DVD burner and it works with no problem at all, except for the quality is a little low.

What conversion software would you recommend canadateck? I would need to convert .AVI files to a burnable file, Mpeg2.

  5. I would look into Main-Concept and Tmpgenc for encoders and Ulead DVD Workshop ,DVD Architect , Tmpgenc Author , Ulead DVD Movie Factory for Authoring the DVD.
