Hello everyone, I just bought a JVC Mini-DV Camcorder and from what I've read up on as far as tapes go what brand of tapes should I be looking at? One thread said not to use TDK since that type has a slight oil on it that could destroy the heads. Since I really don't know, others have said to use Panasonic tapes. Price isn't an issue so any help would be really great and thanks for everyones time and replies.

  2. I'm not too picky. I usually pick up whatever BB has at the moment and roll from there. I've never had a problem with ANY miniDV tapes.

The only issues I've ever had was the occasionaly drop-out and that was because I used them more than once. If you want to get the best quality, use them once and then archive them....

  3. the main concern i was warned about from tehbeginning was sticking with the same brand. different manufacturers use different chemicals to make their tapes and residue can be left behind if you switch up brands of tape. i have a jvc camera also and use maxell tapes. i have had no problems as of yet.

  4. I recommend Panasonice tape....I've been using the AY-DMV63PQ for 6 years, and I have never had one fail on me.

My high school used them, and Panasonic is the only brand my college wants us to use (I'm a video production major)
Friends don't let friends use Windows!

Elisha Cuthbert is so a total schorchcake!!
