Aopen DUW1608/ARR

Does anyone know who makes this drive? I'm just curious if it will be upgradeable to DL DVR-R with firmware. I flashed the newest version just after I got the drive, but Nero InfoTool doesn't show it is at the moment.

I may end up later replacing it with a Pioneer A09 if I'm not happy with the performance of this burner (it came with the system).

Ricoh. Or at least, it uses their chipset.

I'm happy enough with mine, but have been using Ricoh-made 4x DVD+R media with it. Another media and/or speed could change my opinion...

Thanks. I use primarily TY, Maxell, or TDK...prefrerably in that order. How well does the drive burn on those media? I tried on the Maxell (4x made in Japan), and it seemed to burn fine, and play back fine as well. Any word on the other two?
I used to have a Pioneer A06 in my other system which is the reason I am asking.
Oh, I use DVD-R for the most part, but I do have some TY DVD+R, and a 10 pack of HP DVD+RW (they were on sale).
