  1. Hello,

I have noticed this issue on 2 commercial DVDs I have played recently. The player will run through the movie normally. Then, at some point along the way, it will suddenly stop the movie (mid-chapter, I noticed) and open the DVD tray.

No, I wasn't sitting on the remote, and there is no other remote in the room that controls the player (or even affects it). Any idea what the heck this could be?

The player is pretty new (bought about 1 month ago from Amazon.com) and has fireware 0531 with no mods of any kind on it (yet). Any one else experience this issue?

What sucks worse is that during this "open" process, the player "forgets" the last place it was, so it doesn't even resume from where we left off... kinda weird.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a DVP-642 and this is most definitely not normal behavior. I think you have a defective player and need to return it.

  3. That's what I figured.

I contacted Amazon about this, and talk about service! I sent them an email, and I expected to have to go through troubleshooting and explaining and all that crap, but NO! I got a response email saying they have already shipped a replacement unit, and that I should send back the bad one with their shipping label, so it's no cost to me! WOW! No wonder Amazon is so big... that's just AMAZING service!

Anyway, I hope this fixes my issue...
