    Hello,

Ok I've got an old Gravis Blackhawk DIGITAL flightstick. It has the legacy 15pin connector for the soundcard game port. My new pc doesn't have enough free pci slots to put in my old soundcard (has onboard sound).

Would it be cheaper to buy a new usb flightstick than to buy a usb adapter???? There's nothing wrong with the flightstick I just can't connect it unless I get a usb adapter. If I can find an adapter for less than $20 w/shipping than I may do that. If it's more than $20 it's probably worth buying a new flightstick - maybe a newer model that has force feedback

    Kevin

--by the way this is for my XWING collection - I don't really have any newer flight games - so I don't need to go high end I just want to play them with a flightstick --- Thanks

This is sort of a dumb question, but are you using it only for flight games?

I use a PS1 or PS2 Dualshock through a USB adapter, that I got at RadioShack for $10 bucks. Actually I have two now for mutliplayer games.

They make them for Xbox and GameCube controllers also, but I have only seen those online and they usually cost more than $10.

Also they support rumble, but that isn't quite quite as good as force feedback.

One weird thing about the adapter that I have is that the "analog" button in the middle of the Dualshock actually toggles between the cross pad and the left thumbstick. I haven't seen any PSX games that actually do this. The button never seemed to do anything until I used the controller on a PC.

    I don't know what you're talking about.

    Hello,

Thanks but yeah it's specifically for flight games. I figure when I get around to it I'll just buy a new usb one.

    BUMP!

I ended up finally buying a noname usb flightstick. Has the pov button and the throttle wheel (cheap on board wheel not seperate). And it has FORCE FEEDBACK Not very strong though... tested it in the setup screen and kinda dinky shaking - but more than I had before.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys....

It's a GAMERS FACTORY g60503A model - $20 at BESTBUY - seems to be decent though haven't loaded any of my flight sims yet to test it...

I just use an MS Sidewinder Precision 2. I bought it new for $30 a couple years ago and it has been great the whole time. I could have spend another $20 for one with feedback but don't really like feedback when playing flight games. I've also heard the feedback wears out after a while, which makes sense if you're fighting against it whilst playing something. Besides, not having feedback has got to be better in online dogfighting since you don't have to worry about sudden feedback throwing off your aim

However I would like to find a good stick, rudder, and throttle combo that didn't feel cheap (without resorting to training sim hardware which has poor driver support). I heard the bundle that was paired with Ace Combat 5 for the PS2 is really good, but I didn't get it because it had no driver support for Windows, just used with the PS2. Apparently now it has experimental drivers for Windows though.

    Hello,

Sorry can't help you rally - haven't done enough hardcore simming to know the differences on the combo flight packs....
