  1. I wrote a small program to split up my MPEG1 vidcaps into several small clips (useful for creating chapters for VCD's). It just splits the file up, it doesn't re-encode at all.

It works great on my machine, and I have burned VCD's and SVCD's (with Nero) of the new clips. I vidcap 45-60 minutes at a time, and split up into 10-15 different files. On MPG1, the audio stays in sync nicely... but that might just be because of how my MPG1's are encoded.

    My environment is:
ADS Tech DVD Xpress for vidcap
    Dell Inspiron Celeron 2.2GHz
Nero for burning VCD's and SVCD's
    Apex DVD player for playing

I am thinking this app might be handy for others to use too. I cannot guarantee it will work in your environment, but if it does you got a nice little program for FREE. No adware or spyware.. just an app I wrote in my spare time.

I tried sharing this app a few weeks ago, and there were some problems (the app only worked on MY computer! heeheehee) . I fixed what I could and am trying again. I did a lot more testing this time.

If you would like to test it out please email me at
