    Is this not possible? If one can upgrade the codec, then it can play most anything. Divx, Xvid...
    Or is it hardware/ DVD drive that needs to be upgraded?

    Or am i just being dumb, not knowing better?

    divx,xvid playback requires a hardware mpeg4 chipset...so any software bios update is not possible.
