  1. hello all, a newbie to this forum.

i used Nero to burn my 40 min. movie. i had already converted this file from .AVI to mpeg using TMPGEnc plus 2,524.

i burned this to a cd-r and was hoping to view this on a DVD on my dad.s dvd. but was unable to view it? dvd had a error on screen.
i checked on my dvd and same error. then just tried to view on my PC and it just showed 6 folders but was unable to view.

so is ther a setting i need to set when burning using nero 6.6 ?

  2. What you've made is a mini-dvd, that is a dvd structure on CDR.
There's maybe one in a thousand players that will read this.
You should have encoded the avi to (S)VCD and then chosen the appropriate template in Nero.

so i ask, in these forums i read, it says that VCD and SVCD can play on dvd. ( and like you say it does not ) so like your post i need to choose the appropriate template, which is ??

I'm not so sure it's a miniDVD that was created -- 6 folders sounds more like a VCD???

For a miniDVD, I would expect to see 2 folders -- VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS, but not 6 folders as was mentioned...

  7. I mean the DVD player you are trying to play this on.

  8. I was thinking 6 files in the VIDEO_TS folder, that would look like folders, but aren't.
If it did do 6 folders, that would be odd, as VCD has only 5, and SVCD only 4.
From the new compliation template list, select VCD or SVCD.
Make sure your player will play such disks first.
Fill out your computer specs, so we don't have to guess.

What are the names of the 6 folders? Did you Author a VCD or a DVD?

Check you DVD Player using the link on the left "DVD Players" to see what it can play (I would expect the Apex's to be able to play a VCD).

  14. It's a VCD.

Open the VideoCD template in Nero, drag and drop the various files from the folders created by TMPGenc into their respective counterpart folders in the Nero compilation window, and then burn.
