Have you tried a different DVD software program ? Also, check to see if there is a newer HD controller driver for your system on the manufacturer's website.

  4. i figured out the it is a conflict with my sound card. If i disable my sound card in device manager it will burn disks fine. So now all i have to do is find a fix for that.

  5. i know you may not want to hear this, but if you can take the drive back for another. Its your best bet really, for those drives just aren't worth the trouble you'll get from them.

Is the onboard sound disabled in BIOS? MAKE SURE! or it can cause major issues, when you use a separate soundcard.

I have no problems whatsoever with my DUW1608/ARR. Nice drive (very quiet). Have had AOpen CD burners too, never a problem with 'em.

  10. I have this drive too and have found it won't work with 1x and 2x DVD-RW discs. Always get disc speed error when trying to erase the discs. Drive works fine however with 4x DVD-+RW discs.
