What I'm trying to do: convert over the air HD to 320 wide .avi for my portable media player.

Normally AutoGK does an exemplary job, but for one clip I'm trying to convert it's decided it must crop the sides. No matter what setting I try, I get 320x208, rather than 320x180 or 320x176. It's not a huge thing, but it's become a challenge to me.

I've tried: tune autocrop parameters (and changing the threshold), override input AR and force ITU. Can anyone suggest anything else? Or what else I might do with those means? Thanks.

  3. It'll never give you 320x180 as it allows only for Mod16 resolutions, as it should. Unfortunately when making AVIs with those super low resolutions, that's what can sometimes happen, because it crops from the sides to maintain the AR. You may be able to get it to give you 320x176. I agree with Baldrick that setting the Threshold to zero (after also checking the "Tune Autocrop Parameters" box) is the way to go. If that doesn't work I think you can get 320x176 out of it by both checking the box and also "Force Cropping Of" 2 pixels from both top and bottom.

Or else do it manually (outside of AutoGK) and set the resolution to anything you like.

First thing I tried, but you gave me an idea--so I set the threshold to 1 and that solved the problem. Also, I've been using "Force ITU resize method" in the hidden options menu to get around the x16 issue. Thanks very much both of you.
