    Hi,
I have a lot of video content from my digital camera that I want to convert to XviD or WMV files.
My source is MJPEG 320x240 15fps. I couldn't find what should be the best bitrate to convert to and still preserve small size and quality.
When I jumped to 800-1000 kbps but it is too much for such a low-level 320x240 15fps video. When I used smaller rates as 200-400 kbps picture fair enough but resizing video in real-time caused the picture to be blurry (It didn't happend when I resized my MJPEG source in real-time).

Can anyone recommend on a good settings/bitrates for this kind of conversion?

    Thanks,
    Guy.

Please, does someone has an opinion?

  3. Don't worry about bit rates. Use XVID's Quantization mode. This is a single pass constant quality option. Pick the quality you want and every frame will have that quality relative to the original.

On the XVID Configuration Dialog select Encoding Type: Single Pass. Below that is a button labeled Target Bitrate (kbps) press it to make it say Target Quantizer. Enter a value -- try starting with 3.00. The lower the value, the higher the quality.

In my experience a Target Quantizer of 3.00 is nearly indistinguishable from the orignal at normal playback speed. You have to compare still frames side by side to see differences. At 2.0 you can't even see differences in still frames. At 4.0 you start to notice small differences at full speed if you look for them.
