Ok I have a large, large batch of mkv videos I want to convert to wmv so I can play them on my zune.

I have avs video converter which works great. its a great one step process to get an in synch wmv out of the mkv.

The only downside is as far as I can tell the only batch feature it offers to MERGE individual mkv files into one wmv. The only problem is that left me with a 7 hour wmv file! That was not what I wanted.

I want to be able to take a mkv file and get a wmv file in the output but do it for a large collection of files - WITHOUT merging. The idea being that its easier to load a bunch of wmvs on the zune and subsequently delete the clips I have already watched. Its clunkier to have them merged in one mega file and also it takes up unnecessary space on the zune when I could be deleting some of the files after watching.

Suggestions are welcome and I'll entertain suggestions for payware also (to a point, I'm not gonna spend a WHOLE lot on this - maybe upwards of 50.00 USD??? - freeware is better of course but not if it involves demuxing and remuxing or results in out of synch files). Not asking too much am I??

    Thanks in advance....

Maybe MediaCoder would work if you find out how to use it as it can a bit tricky...

But doesn't the zune also support mp4 h264? Then it should work with for example WinFF.

I have been told the newer 80gb and 120gb (probably the new 4+8 as well) work with mp4.

The problem with my 30gb at least is anything that is not true wmv 320x240 gets reencoded. So thats doing more work and killing the quality.

I appreciate the suggestion though I might take a look at mediacoder see how complex it is.

EDIT _ I tried converting to windows media video and audio with a mp4 container but it said error code 15 - I believe it was couldn't mux or something like that. Should I have tried asf as a container? I think the Zune software can recognize that.
