I will if this gets any hits.

I can't remember if this was done before, I know I've done the post pics of your computer but I thought something different would be good.

    )Hello,
I'll try to do it tonight. Though, I'll have to expose my wimpy 21" tv (non high def also,). But I've got wood floors in that room and my sub REALLY kicks it out (even at 50 watts on a 80 watt receiver!!).

    Kevin

---I'm running my rear speakers at 40 watts on a 80 watt receiver and they HAVEN'T blown yet! It's been a couple of YEARS now and I've even watched DTS movies and they haven't kicked the bucket yet, not bad for a pair of ADVENT speakers! ----

    Hello,

    Here it is:

These are my rear speakers and they sit on the floor behind the chairs in the back of the room. They point up so the sound bounces off the rear walls. It's quite loud too!

Just thought I'd show you how crowded the rear of the Stereo is!

  4. OK here is my TV, 36" Phillips, next to it are the Centre Speaker (mourdaunt short) and the powered Sub (paradigm), the AMP is below the TV in the cabinet, it is a Sony.

Here is the view behind the TV. There is a signal booster/splitter which sends my cable signal all over the house, and a connector plate with phono plugs for the speaker cables that come out of the amp. I chased out the walls for the speaker cable and put plates on the walls with phono connector plugs to keep everything nice and tidy and cable free. Made a hell of a mess at the time. Old house with old black ash plaster.

Here is one of the front speakers, mourdaunt short same as the centre.

And here are the rears, Eltax Bi-polar. You can see clearly on this pic, the phono connector for plugging the speaker into.

Someone else is goint to benefit from all my hard work of wiring my living room for home theatre as we are selling up and moving. Means I will have to do it all again in the new house.

  7. That was just luck that there happened to be a fit bird on the TV at the time of the photo. Looking at the photo it was tuned to trouble, which is pretty much a kids channel.

Thanks, I cant reccommend Phillips TV's enough. That one I have has been supurb. The picture is excellent and if you dont want to turn on your amp for the full 5.1 effect, the speakers on the TV set are very good.

Some very nice systems and setups here. Craig, your room looks a bit purple.

Shelby, I like your setup although I wanted to ask do you still get the right surround feel since your couch isn't quite in line with the tv and everything?

    I'll post mine tomorrow. 8)

    pyrate...

Yeah, I do actually. The Vega's are a bit wider now than they are in that pic... about a meter from the tv in each direction now. and when I watch movies I always sit on the right side of the couch which is the "sweet spot" for the movies. It all worked out in the end.

    Craig,
Very nice, very professional! There aren't many in your category who take the time and effort to create such an organized and uncluttered entertainment center. You are probably in the business?? And I like purple .... it's relaxing ... soothing.

Thanks. No, not in the business just an enthusiastic DIY'er. I will have a crack at pretty much anything, car repair, plumbing, wiring, tiling, you name it. I save myself a fortune in labour costs. For the speaker wiring I could not find anything commercially avaialable to do what I wanted to do (have plugs in the walls) So I bought some small plastic boxes with removable screw on covers. I drilled holes into one face of the box for the speaker wire and then plastered the boxes into the wall along with the cable. I then fitted the phono connectors to the box lids. Soldered the cable onto the connector and fitted the lid back onto the boxes in the wall. It was all pretty fiddley but well worth it.

  19. Will post some of mine at the weekend. Just got a new sofa and some shelves up.

I have gone really mental on the old dvd's recently. I bought 8 series of the x-files on monday, ordered 11 dvd's from Japan for £300 !!!!! on Tuesday that does not include the undoubted import taxes I will get slammed with and this morning I managed to find someone who had one of these badboys -

£800 in 3 days the missus is going to go apeshit when she sees the bank account

  23. Craig... nice color scheme and wiring job.... Plaster is a bitch isn't it. our house is 70+ years old and plaster... touch the walls and they crumble. I found early on, when cutting in for boxes in plaster you need to use a diamond coated tile bit (in my cut out tool - like a dremel) vs a wood or drywall bit... I was trying to figure out why my bits kept burning out..

  24. I don't honestly have a home theater setup, so there isn't much to say. My specialty is having somewhere around 13 consoles to play, 11 of which are fully functional, all on a 27 inch flatscreen(last I checked, it's an LCD screen.), not having enough speakery goodness to make the room shake with each booming explosion and firing of a gun.

The plaster here is solid enough (house built in 1930), on brick walls like most UK houses. I used a hammer drill with a curved chisel attachment to chase the channels out, made pretty quick work of it. I also put the wall lights up and buried the central heating pipes in the walls while I was at it. I hate pipes and cables showing and do my best to hide them whenever possible. The living room looked like a bomb site for weeks.

  26. This is what I bought a few years back... for a few boxes this is great but for long chases I think you process was good.
