Ok, here's my setup. The TV is going to become my bedroom TV as soon as I move out, which is soon, and the home theater will have a new 50" or so instead(for the living area). The cabinet is also temporary and will not be going with me to my new place. The speakers are a mix of brands and at the moment I don't have a sub since my two front speakers are extrememly powerful...believe me. The surround speakers match my center speaker and receive their signal via a wireless audio transmitter sitting on top of my cabinet next to the tv. There's also a dvd player under the xbox which got cut out of the picture.

How do you like that M$ wireless? I heard they're getting out of the biz, so prices are getting pretty low.

I used to have one of those and I loved it. Takes some getting used to though, and you have to make sure you've got it set just right. Although I'd kill to get back the Aeron I had at my old job.

I saw one of those "ergonomically correct" office chairs. It looked like a marital aid.

Seriously, you had to approach the thing and lean forward, leaning into the thing. When in the damn thing you looked like a bear cub humping a basketball. No way, no how. Give me "ole backbreaker" any day

  23. Here's mine:

    36" Old Toshiba
    Samsung POS DVD
    Sony 5 disc CD changer
    Kenwood Surround Sound Recvr
JVC 5 speaker Plus sub set up
    POS VCR
(Plus one, low to the ground, bear chair )

Out of curiosity... my receiver is a Dolby Surround Sound Receiver... not DTS... when I play back DTS only DVD's does my DVD player / Receiver 'step the sound down' so it plays appropriately on my older receiver?

One winter when we had a bad cold snap I spent a few weeks dumping all my LP's over to CD (goes back about 6-8 years ago) -- worked good... I just connected LP to mixer and mixer to PC Line In Jack.... a few hundred wav's later I was done. Turntable went to dumpster.

(I didn't have any room in my TV cabinet so I had to spend the time in conversion or go out and buy all those albums again )

hmm, you shouldn't have any DTS -only- DVD's, the spec requires at least one DD or PCM track for NTSC and one DD, PCM or MP2 track for PAL.....

Supposed to be behind the screen, or at best tucked underneath it. TV manufacturers should take thaty into account when designing stands, but they don't

All I was saying was that if that is your center channel on top of the tv it looks small because of how huge the TV is...that's all.
