I have been experimenting with AVItricks. It seems like a really cool, powerful relatively straightforward program to use. I have one question, though. Every time I open a file to use it displays a message that "images in this file may not display properly" and I should download "video for windows codec with fourCC=" I have googled looking for this and searched this website and cannot find this Codec. Can someone shed some light on this?

    Hi xinjingqiao,

What comes after the "video for windows codec with fourCC="?

When it says "fourCC", it's referring to the four letter code that is used to denote codecs, e.g. 'dvsd' is the Sony DV codec.

If/when I find a 4 letter code how do I go about knowing which codecs it is?

Not sure. My first port of all would be a search for it here, the non Google.

Try searching on the phrase "video for windows codec", as I think there's an actual codec called "VFW" (Video For Windows). VFAPI perhaps?

Not 100% sure, sorry. I'm just suggesting things that sound familiar and might fit the bill...

    Anyone else?

  6. xinjingqiao,

Use GSopt to open your file. You should see something like this. (See screenshot)

The 4CC code will identify the codec required. Also displayed will be the name of the codec. Load that codec pack on your system. That should solve your problem.
