Hey all....I'm somewhat of a noob to the video world, but I've come a long way in the last year. What I'm trying to do is take some XVID AC3 files (AVI ext.) that I have and make a DVD out of them with Adobe Encore DVD.

Now here is the problem I'm running into:

I'm converting the files to MPEG-1 with WinAVI and then importing them into Adobe Encore DVD. Problem is when I import the MPG it either has no video, or it causes my system to bog down tremendously. I have done this many many times before and never had this problem (I'm assuming that the files I've previously imported were only stereo and not 5.1 ac3). This makes it impossible to work with the files.

Also on a related note....when I import some of the files after converting them, they seem to be stretched horizontally....will they burn ok when the time comes?

Does anybody have a solution for me? I'd be eternally grateful! I really don't care if these things are 5.1 or stereo...I just want them to work.

    A thousand thank-yous,

    Matty

  2. Have you tried loading the avi into VirutalDubmod and either saving audio as .wav or dumux'ing the .ac3 file? then import the video and audio into encore dvd seperately and place them on the same timeline. You can then tell encore how you want it to handle the audio (transcode settings).
