  1. Hi,

MY laptop(HP COMPAQ nx 9010 having xp) does not shutdown . it gives the message -> windows shutting down, but no response. i have to manually press the on/off button for some seconds and shut it down

any ideas on why this is happening ?

How long are you giving it to shutdown before you manually hit the power button?

You've probably got something running that Windows can't shut down. I'm assuming XP since you didn't fill out your computer profile. Open Task Manager and see what is running prior to shutdown.

  5. ok..i will try and let u know
and one more thing is when i press ctrl alt del, only the processes are displayed....the full window is not coming (no file, options, view, help options) and no applications/process/performance and networking)
i only get the list of processess and i have to kill this taskmgr

why this is happening ? any set-up to be done ?

You could type in msconfig from the run command and list what is running. We could then tell you what to shut-off.

  7. ok...i will do this and let u know
but what is the solution for the ctrl-alt-del ? for me to see the full menu for this task manager ? why this is showing only the process to me and not the full task manager features/menus ?
