When shrink scans a dvd in dts-es (7 channels) why does shrink only report it as 6?

I don't think Shrink really cares how many channels a DTS track has, as it will be at least 6. This is not the case for AC3, where it can 1, 2, 2.1, 3, 4, 4.1, 5.1 or EX, and mutliple of these on the one disk. Some 2 channel tracks are the commentary, others are the original prologic recording.

But shrink still does not report it. Blade 2 is in EX and ES but both tracks are reported as 5.1

Does it matter ?
Have you ever seen a movie with both a 5.1 and an EX track ? EX is basically a pseudo extra surround channel and ES is a discrete extra surround channel. If it has EX, that will be the only AC3 5.1 audio track on the disk. Ditto ES and DTS. There is no reason to differentiate between them.
If this is keeping you up nights, drop a PM to ddlooping - he seems to have Mr Shrink's ear.Read my blog here.

I would not expect EX to be shown but definitely ES as it is an extra audio channel.
There are quite a few that have both tracks. I am not sure exactly but I know that I have a few. -
I thought we were talking about EX and ES.
Yeah I dont think there are any discs with dts and es. -
PLEASE post dvd to dvdr in the dvd to dvdr forum. Moving you.
