  1. Hey all, I just followed this guide here https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=738#738 which I ripped my 5 minute dvd to avi. My problem is the quality of the video. It came out ok but some parts the sound chirps and its loud enough and also the video plays slow. Is there a better way to rip the dvd with better quality. My main goal is to transfer it to the web which doesnt have to be super quality but good enough to view and hear.

    Any Suggestions?

    Thank You

I've had succesful results using DVD Decrypter to rip the VOBs to my hard drive, then using VirtualDubMod for conversion to AVI. After that, Movie Maker to create WMV files. Others have used VirtualDub for conversion to Divx, Xvid, etc. There should be guides for all of this in the guides section.

    Good Luck.

Rip to mpeg instead (not sure if next step accepts vobs which is why I suggest mpeg)

If the mpeg is sufficient for the web leave it, if not go to MS website and get the free wmv encoder. I may get flack for it but the fact is the wmv is great fomat that plays on any windows machine.

It's down about 3 or 4 programs.... I've actually never used the guide. Just did it. You'll figure it out.
