  1. here we go...

i have a lite-on stand alone dvd recorder, and a tivo
last night i record a tv program (a mexican movie) length 2 hours
    with the comercials
now i have a dvd-r that i can play in all my stand alone dvd players

    the question is :

what program do i need to "edit" the vob files, and cut the
comercials (advertise) out of the movie, and make another dvd
    just with the movie ?

i have all the ulead family programs, and magix video de luxe
but, none of them i can use

the only program that looks to be used, is the disk creator (ulead)
but the process is teddious, and boring, and to complex, i wold like
to use a program like vmedia studio, or magix, in a time line
just to select the video, and cut it out

    any suggestion ??
    thanks

  2. You can use any MPEG-2 editor, preferably one that doesn't rerender the entire video (just cut points). It'll be the difference between a couple minutes and couple hours.

    Here are some...

    MPEGSchnitt
    Cuttermaran
    Womble MPEG2VCR
    VideoReDo

The last two are trialware. I tried both and found VideoReDo the best for me (fixed problem videos from my DVD Recorder).

For all, you rip the VOB files to your computer (preferably one file per show and not in 1GB chunks... see DVDDecryptor->IFO Mode->Options->Split Video set to None). Then open the VOBs in your editor, set clip points, then save new video file.

You'll need to reburn and reauthor the video. Any DVD Author will do. I use Ulead's Disc Creator.

P.S. One tip I've learned from my DVD Recorder. I record on DVD-RW in VR format (saves all recordings in one file). Then I either copy the entire VRO over or use Ulead's Import Video function and pull off selected programs from the disc. Ulead gives me one MPEG per recording that I can then edit/cut. I usually record 4 one hour shows per DVD-RW, rip, edit and burn a final DVD-R, then erase the DVD-RW for reuse.
