  1. A while back in a very contentious series of forum posts a few people requested a scan from a Pioneer 108 that did well. As requested, here you are:

    Hi.

I've never used KProbe before, so perhaps this is a silly question, but why does it say SONY DRU-700A in the model description?

  3. It's the model of the burner being used to do the above test (Only liteon drives work with Kprobe to my knowledge, but then this Sony drive IS a Liteon drive).

chas0039, I'm curious, why did you post a 'good' scan specifically from a Pioneer 108? Were people questioning whether or not it could do a good burn?

When you edited a post with """"" in it, you butcher the title. Fix it.

Yes, exactly. In a prior thread some people said they had not ever seen one and challenged me to find one so I did. I had seen many before but had not kept track of them. For some reason, people doubted the burning ability of the 108.

  6. I was the only one requesting the scan. As I recall, I requested a great scan, not just a good one.

The scan you've supplied is impressive, yet is still has almost ten times as many PIF errors as the scans I posted of Pioneer 105 burns. My only contention was that Pioneer 108 burn quality was not superior to Pioneer 105, using certain media. I don' think that has been disproved.

I will not start the old argument again. This is a great example of what is important and how different people will view the same information differently. I would take my G05 scan over your G04 scan any day. You are absulutely right about the PIF errors but the difference, to me, between the numbers is insignificant. I look at your ups and downs and high (160) PI errors and they bother me. You have almost 500,000 PI errors while I have closer to 50,000. That bothers me. My PI scan is better than yours. Your PIF scan is better than mine. I like mine; you prefer yours. This is what makes this hobby interesting.
