  1. I'm converting high quality AVI files to Mpeg files using the DVD (ntsc) template in Tmpg 2.5. When I looked at the finished product there was a look to the the video that made it appear that everything in it was vibrating... video, credits, everything! This occurs when I try to convert AVI to DVD (ntsc) as I said, but also if I try to convert to SVCD (ntsc) as well. However when I convert from AVI to VCD (ntsc), the picture doesn't vibrate at all. But that's not the kind of quality I want. Any idea on a way to make this go away? Any help is appreciated.

when you rendered to mpeg1 (vcd) , your render was progressive ... so i suspect your render to mpeg2 was interlaced ..

    BUT

on what are you seeing this on ? and playing with what ?

on a tv - the vibration may be not there ...

on a pc - it might be ..

need some more info -- but you can try to render to progressive -- though that might not be the best choice for tv playback (need more info on your source, playback, and settings you used)

  3. OK, source file is an AVI Xvid, Video Size 608X256, 23.976 fps, 1150kbits bitrate. The vibration is seen when played back on my PC. Haven't looked at it on TV yet because I thought I'd attempt to solve the problem before burning to DVD. I was using windows media player for playback. And the settings I tried to convert the AVI to were the DVD (ntsc) template and the SVCD (ntsc) template on Tmpg. And as I said the VCD (ntsc) template worked fine. I changed no setting when converting. I just used those 2 templates.

  5. OK trying not to sound stupid. I get the render to 23.976 as the template uses 29.97..but what does add pulldown on playback mean? Do you mean to add a check in the advanced tmpg settings for 3:2 pulldown...and if so, is there anything else that should have a check mark next to on that menu?

And thanks for helping me out btw.

  6. Nevermind...I see the setting now. It seems that it was fps that was causing it though. That one change made the vibration stop.
    Thanks again.
