I am capturing hi8 with a hauppauge mpeg hardware encoder and when i play a sample back in womble I notice vibration on the sides,is there anything I can do to remedy this, more specifically is there a filter i can use when re-encoding that will stabilize the image?

I figured out what was causing it,I was sampling at 12,000 kbps in an attempt to try to get rid of some distortion. After I changed to forced primary in my capture program and lowered the bitrate down to 10,080 it helped a lot. Then i re-encoded at 9500.I still have a thin layer of distortion at the bottom edge but maybe I can crop the image and get rid of it.Initially the reason I bumped the bitrate so high was because i was experimenting trying to get the sides to run straight up and down, they kind of curved in one direction towards the bottom.

Do not crop video in for tv playback. The overscan will not be seen.

heres the thing though,im doing my brother a favor by converting these to dvd.he's got like 20 of them and what makes it difficult for me is the they are 4x3 aspect ratio but he has a wide screen plasma and i'm afraid the sides will be visible. It also makes it difficult for me because his dvd player doesnt play DL OR mp3's so i have to bring my phillips dvd player over to his house very soon to see how i did.I convinced him to get a new sony digital video camera,im working on convincing him to get a new dvd player now.he also didnt want to spend the money on a dv camera for higher quality pass through and make my life easier and his old camera only has composite outputs argg.
