Ok, i have been posting in this forum since May 2004, and while that is not that long, it feels like a long time to me. Here is my problem.

I have been posting that I have a problem with video/audio sync when i rip vob files from dvds by chapter, and then open them with VirtuaDub-Mpeg. It is not all the dvd's i rip, so i can't predict when it will occur. I have tried to delay the audio, but sometime that will not help. I use SmartRipper to rip the vob files, here are my current settings:

A recent vob file i am having a problem with starts synced, but about 3 seconds in the audio is faster than the video.

What I want to do, what I have always wanted to do, is clip HQ clips from mainstream movies, with loud enough audio to hear the dialogue and music, clear and bright enough video to enjoy the scene, and to have those two synced up.

I have decided on avi format, do to several people in this forum telling me that it was the best way to go for a quality/bitrate/file size product i wanted. I use DivX 5 to encode my clips, and I am generally happy with the results. These clips are usually between 10 seconds and 5 minutes.

I want a high quality with a comparibly small filesize, like 20mb/min.

So, my big problem right now is the audio/video sync. Despite a few replies on the Audio board, I have found no information that helps my situation. I don't want to delay audio, because then the first part of the clip has no sound. I want to be able to sync up the A/V with as few applications as possible, and just make good clips.

If anyone has anything that would help me here, I would be very grateful.

    Much love!

Use AutoGK . It is very good at maintaining A/V sync.

I guess I just draw these people to myself....

So, yeah, uh thanks I guess. While I always appreciate replies to my posts, I think it would be helpfull if people would ACTUALLY READ WHAT I WROTE DOWN.

I AM NOT trying to re-author an entire DVD. I am ripping chapters from DVD's, and then cutting clips from those chapters.

So, if anyone would like to contribute something helpful, please do.

As always, and HELP is appreciated.

    Much Love!

P.S. Please save the snide remarks...

    Hello,

VIRTUALDUB should be able to help. There's an audio skew feature that might help.

    Kevin
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Ok, so now, not only are some people not reading the thread before they reply, but they are responding to a post about people not reading threads, AFTER NOT READING THE THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagine some people are reading this and snickering. I usually don't get upset or argue over the internet, due to that whole special olympics catch 22.

So, nobody wants to take a crack at this one, huh? Well, i'll keep bumping it until someone does, or I figure it out myself.
