Using the latest version of DVD Shrinker (3.2.0.15), a friend of mine has not been able to make a usable copy of a DVD he bought. Pretty recent DVD, like less than a month new. The original disc plays fine, but he cannot get the program to get past 24% on the first Analysing step after "open disk." It will run past the menus, then freeze when it reaches the actual movie.
He also tried CloneDVD, but it frooze at about the same spot. Are there any other programs that he might try?
My real question is, could it be the ever elusive encoding that no one has cracked because most companies don't use it? Can't remember what it was called, but it's not common.
As always, any help is appreciated.
Much Love!

Try using DVDDecrypter first. Place the entire DVD to a folder on your HD....then open that folder with DVDShrink....provided you have sufficient HD space.

If you're talking about sony's Arccos protection, it has already been cracked. AnyDVD, DVDDecrypter and VOBBLanker (amongst others) have been proven to work against this, if that's what it is. What movie is it ?
If in doubt, Google it. -
Ayup. That's got Arccos. Shrink is now outdated - you'll need to rip with one of the programs jimmalenko mentioned before Shrinking.

"Like less than a month new". Let's see, the "Grudge" came out Tuesday, 1 Feb 05, today is 4 Feb 05, that makes 3 days. Okay that qualifys for less than a month old.
