Redo scan at 4X Speed instead of MAX. That, I believe is the accepted standard for KProbe scans.

  3. Correct, redo it at 4x for more accurate results.

You should also put the media brand and media code in your thread as well as topic title so people know specifically what media you're using.

Not that fast. I got TY dvd+r that are 8x , but can burn at 12X and I can burn a 4.3gb w/ Roxio Toast on my MAC in 4 minutes and 31 seconds. That's fuggin fast.

Oh, on my PC,,, its a slay 5 minutes flat w/ NERO 6.

    PC its in USB 2.0

    MAC its in Firewire.

  9. koolaidwa, that last scan you posted is still poor, especially as the PIF gets up past 20 or so. That disc is most likely a coaster, you probably will get read errors at the edge of the disc if you tried to make a copy of the disc.

I haven't heard the best things about BTC, but it could certainly just be cheap media or a poor firmware in this case. If you can wait 2 minutes or so longer, I'd try burning at 8x until you can get reliable burns at 16x, it's not worth saving a couple of minutes if the burn is going to come out crap. See how it burns at 8x on the Liteon for comparison, hopefully you keep your PIF peaks to less than half of that scan above.

  10. ...on the other hand, think of all circular drink stains that your new coaster will prevent.

YES that scan ended up being a f ing coaster

i think i narrowed it down, as i burnt another one using a differnt program and got less errors

If you are burning DVDs, I suggest trying DVD Decrypter to burn the discs as ISO images. I've had the best burns and the fewest errors, consistently, burning with DVD Decrypter. It does a great job and of course it's free too.
