I am looking for a new program icon for SVCD2DVD. Does anyone who has designed & created program icons previously fancy a commission?

Yes. I like that, or something similar.

Have you done icons before? I would need true colour with alpha channel and 256 colour versions at various sizes.

    Please let me know.

Can't say I have, this seems to be a little beyond my editors capabilities anyway. It won't open some ico files correctly. I'll have to investigate...... Don't hold your breath waiting for me.

I'm not guaranteeing how it'll turn out, but you don't have anything to lose either

Any ideas where to start? A theme maybe? Some rough idea of what you're after? Or should I just bang out a few cool looking ones and let you look at them?

And should it just have SVCD2DVD for the text?

I'm gettin killed here for a lack of software. Is there a base type image that I can save as transparency then just rename ico. I can save as ico but no transparentcy, it has a white background.

The best I could do short of getting software that will make transparent ico's would be someting like this. I'd have to use the entire ico size.

Capmaster: Have a look at my site. There are a few screenshots/graphics which give a insight into what style i have. BUT I am up for anything really!

    http://www.svcd2dvd.com/

    http://www.svcd2dvd.com/images/NewSite/webbanner.jpg

    http://www.svcd2dvd.com/Software/svcd2dvd2.aspx

    http://www.svcd2dvd.com/images/splash.jpg

thecoalman: Not sure what software to recommend. I was under the impression that you could get icon creation software (free/shareware) which takes a 32/24 bit image and does the job...

Using http://www.gdgsoft.com/gconvert/index.aspx for example...have a look at http://www.gdgsoft.com/gconvert/tour.aspx and the bit about creating icons.
    ------------

    ALL:

    In short can the icon be 48 x 48, 32 x 32 & 16 x 16 and 24-bit with 8-bit alpha (32-bit), 8-bit (256 colors) with 1-bit transparency, 4-bit (16 colors) with 1-bit transparency as per this document?

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwxp/html/winxpicons.asp

Again if you have any thing to run past me, great. I will pay for the chosen icon. If software is require to produce a chosen design, i will buy it for you (within reason)

Chrissyboy - I don't want any payment. I think you'd get cheated, as I'm not a pro. And I'm not that good at it, quite honestly. But I figured I could toss a few out and see if they work for you. I hadn't planned on spending a lot of time on it. I'm strictly amateur

If you want a pro job then maybe you don't want me to do it. It sounds like you want someone who has done many many icons. If so, I'll bow out now and not take up any more of your discussion

Well after reading the MS article I can accomplish that with my software and the app they mention on the article for converting to a proper icon which is where I'm stuck.

See what cap comes up (you have to watch him though he's been traumatized https://www.videohelp.com/forum/images/guides/p1171214/cap6.jpg ) If you want me to proceed I will. I can make it look like the first one I posted with the trasparent background. I'll be able to make it look better than that though. Shadows work wonders. I just threw it together quick. I don't need any compensation either, just a big splash screen that stays on for about 20 seconds with the image I linke to above.....
