I have been researching a problem with video playback on my PC using my ATI 9600XT TV player. I have been noticing a "stutter" in the picture that appears to happen at intervals during regular playback. Recent feedback from this forum suggested I look at TCP/IP settings. Further analysis of task manager reveals that the culprit related to hogging up my CPU power may be Norton Antivirus. Several Norton related processes (NAVAPSVC.EXE and CCAPP.EXE) appear to be eating up processor power which I suspect is causing my video playback to stutter intermittantly. If I disable Norton auto-protect the problem persists. My question: Is Norton Antivirus, with the security programs it has working in the background, a likely cause of video playback "stuttering" periodically? If so, how does one eliminate the Norton processes at work in the background without uninstalling Norton Antivirus all together?
Thanks,
Dave

I dont think the problem is NAV. I run it havent seen this problem.
Look for spyware, run Spybot and Ad-Aware. -
For the most trouble free video processing, all "protection" software should be exited/disabled.

I've never had the problem you speak of, but did get some lovely coaster burns back in the vcd days with NAV running.
As victoria stated, it's best to disable all AV type programs before venturing off in to this realm. Even if it doesn't mess anything up it will def increase the time it takes to complete the task.
NAV is very good at what it does, however the memory/cpu hoggyness made me opt for the free AVG from grisoft.
