i have program consistantly using 50 percent of my dual core cpu..
is there any utility to limit cpu usage for programs or can i do it in registry somehow?
i tried low priority but it did not help
best would be to setup percentage and make it able to work also after restarting program
thanks

You can only set to low priority. No percentage. If a background program is using 50% all the time, I would remove it, and try a different program that does the same thing. My antivirus and firewall combined only use 1-2%.

Process priority only effects scheduling. If more than one process wants the CPU the one with the higher priority gets it most of the time. But if only one program wants the CPU it gets as much as it can use regardless of it's priority.

	thanks for replies..
i did find utilities BES, and Threadmaster...
i may try those...will see if it helps....if there is a way to setup in regedit how much program can use...that would be beneficial....

Note that you may not need to limit a process's CPU usage. If you run it at low priority (or idle priority) it won't get much CPU time if there are other programs that want the CPU. For example, if you run a video conversion at idle priority it only gets CPU time that otherwise wouldn't be used. It will have virtually no effect on foreground process like web browsing, etc. And if you aren't using the computer much the conversion will get as much CPU as it can use -- it won't take appreciably longer to complete.

I take it that you're using windows? and your getting it mixed up somehow with a proper OS that allows proper control of underlying jobs/processes. These features were/are standard in mini computer os and I suspect in Linux, maybe this is where hypervisors have some use? Windows is still DOs with Lipstick and a fancy skirt Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
