hey guys i just had a question about the size of my Audio& Video TS folders after i use tmpgenc DVD author. i have been getting really small files compared to the files i begin with (m2v and mp2 or AC3) what is up with that, is this normal, because sometimes it will take up a whole dvd and sometimems it is really small (around 1 gig) but the last couple of dvds i have burned that have been like that(small) run fine and look good on my dvd player! and on the burnt DVD there is only a darker ring going about 1/3 the way out. so my questions are, 1. should i be concerned. 2. what exactly is going on. 3. if this is normal, how do i get more than one video TS folders onto one DVD, because it looks like it is possible to get about 3 movies onto one dvd by the looks of it! thanks for all your help

I've seen DVD Author show wrong sizes when the Video or audio has corrupt information in it. Sometimes it will still burn and play OK strangely enough.
What you didn't say was whether or not the files that burn as 1gig only show as 4 gig in DVD Author or whether or not they really are 4 gigi on the drive?

on my hd too it says that the file is only about 1.1 gb. But it looks okay on my dvd player and the sound is fine! well i think maybe the video is a bit blocky sometimes but only as bad as digital cable or something. I am so confused!!

It means that some information within files you are adding to DVD Author is wrong. It is telling it that the file will take 4 gig of dvd space which is wrong as the file is only 1.1 gig and DVD author does not encode. You need to look at the source of these files. However they are being encoded, At capture or later they are not coming out right. It isn't an authoring problem, it is a problem during the creation of the Audio/Video files you are feeding into Tmpgenc DVD.

well the source was a 700mb avi file. Which I encoded to a .vob file using Xilisoft, then I demuxed the video using Tmpgenc. Both the .vob and .m2v files were at or around 4 gig's. So i guess i will check the .avi in Virtual Dub to check for dropped frames? i am still confused though how the audio and video still look great on my dvd player!
