Hi all, first time post here! Any help would be GREAT!
Here is my problem:
I have a DVD that shows a performance from multiple angles. An additional feature of the DVD is the ability to choose between different audio commentaries.
My goal was to rip a specific angle as well as a specific audio selection (for lack of a better word).
I have tried a few things with different results.
I have mainly used the freeware: MactheRipper...
On my first attempt, while I was able to get the angle I wanted, for some reason, the audio was defaulted to the wrong selection and I could not figure out a way to specifically select the audio selection I want.
The result was a .VOB file.
My second attempt had a little better results; however, I am still having a couple of problems.
My second attempt utilized the "Stream" function, in which I was able to select the audio track I wanted.
What this resulted in were 2 separate files: .m2v & .ac3, which individually housed the video and audio independently of each other.
What I could like to get advice on are the following:
Is there a program (for either Windows or Mac OSX Intel) that allows me to rip a DVD where I can pick both a specific angle AND specific supplemental track? Also, if possible, does the program allow one to output as a "normal" video file (IE mp4 or avi)?
Is there a program that can merge the .m2v & .ac3 results that I got in the second attempt? I'm having a hard time finding one. I've registered for a trial for the TMPGEnc Premium and tried to use that to merge it; however, I kept getting error messages.
I have both Mac & Windows machines.
Any help and advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance!

DVD Decrypter will let you rip a specific angle. I would rip the angle you want with all the audio, then use DVD Shrink to choose the audio tracks you want to keep and to create the new structure.

Hi
Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm having the same issue and I don't really want to have to use Windows (would mean booting between Windows and Leopard all the time). I'm used to using DVDDecrypter and being able to strip out only the streams I want but I'm trying to move all my work over to my Mac now. I've been playing with MacTheRipper but I either end up with a VOB that has multiple audio streams in it or demuxed video and audio. Can MTR do what DVDDecrypter does and just create a VOB with the streams I want?
Assuming it can't can anyone recommend a Mac alternative to muxman please? I've had MTR extract the two streams I want (i.e. the M2V and the AC3) but now I need to put them back together.
Any help would be appreciated!
ps, Hello by the way!(1st post)

Update:
Since posting the last I've done some more playing around and have managed (sort of) to do what I want, although it's not ideal.
To start with I used ffmpegx and it's Tools->Mux option to merge the M2V and AC3 files together. I selected 'DVD' as target but, while this seemed to work, it actually created several VOBs instead of just one.
Interestingly though, a by-product of muxing was that I was left with an mpeg. QuickTime wouldn't play it but VLC played it fine so I converted it to an MP4 using ffmpegx and a custom PS3 preset I found on this site and this worked a treat. Not only this but my PS3 can play the resulting mp4 (and mpeg for that matter) via eyeconnect!
Of course, the mpeg is 4.0GB and the mp4 is 660MB so I know which one I'll be copying onto my PS3!
This is all pretty good and I'm happy with it, but it just seems a little clunky still. So, can anyone answer the following?
1. Can ffmpegx mux a single VOB file from an M2V and AC3?
2. What mux option should I pick to create just a suitable mpeg and not bother creating VOBs?
3. Can MacTheRipper strip certain streams as this would save having to export the M2V and AC3, then mux them back together?
Any suggestions gratefully received!
