What are the particulars of your source AVI (GSpot can help with this) ?
What software did you use to convert to DVD ?
    What settings ?
What software did you use to author ?
What software did you use to burn ?
What brand of media are you using ?
What brand of DVD burner were you using ?

    Details ...
    If in doubt, Google it.
