  1. Would appreciate any advice. Is there a way to play a vid on my hard drive (avi, mpg, dvx, etc) using windows media player or similar and connect the output to my stand alone Panny dvd recorder? I've been connecting vcr or dvd player to stand alone to burn dvd and quality and efficiency are great. I've been using pc dvd recorder with Nero to burn dvd or vcd. However, is there some way to bypasss having to use Nero and pc recorder and move the streaming vid to the stand alone. Reason for interest is that the standalone converts to dvd format in "real time" --obviously less time than using Nero to "convert" and "burn". I believe that IF I had MS Media Center pc I could stream the pc vid to my tv, but I do not have that system.
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Can't you just use the TV-Out port (s-video) and the line outs from your sound card? And use a good media player (not WMP!).

  3. Monzie, thank you for reply. My yr 2001 pc has a GeForce4 Ti4200G Graphics card w/ tv output(single display). I changed the setting so I could see monitor screen on my digital 8 vidcam to test output and it displayed fine. Two questions, though. When I open windows media player, the player window around the vid shows for some of the vids, even at "fullscreen" mode. In other vids, player fluctuates between full screen and then showing blue on 1/3 of right side. Can you recommend a better media player. Also, will I see a noticeable loss of resolution using this method compared to burning directly from hd to internal dvd burner?Would I be better off buying a more recent vid capture card? If so, any recommendations?
Thank you for your thoughts. very much appreciated.

Try BSPLAYERPRO or ZOOMPLAYER, both will display full screen without a box.

  5. not to turn u away from this, but wouldn't this type of conversion to DVD reduce final quality drastically?
My AVI -> Any Format Guide is available here.

We're not talking about high quality sources here, so it would probably be OK.

  7. I think several people have mentioned they are sending edited AVI from the PC to some DVD recorders via firewire (at least the JVC is capable of this, from what I understand).
