I did a search but really could find nothing that covers my question. I have a panasonic dmrs20 stand alone dvd recorder that I record tv shows on. I am wanting to take that dvd and convert my shows to either divx, xvid or mp4 to play on my ipod or to store on my ps3 to view later. it seems like things I record on the stand alone dvd recorder takes forever and a day to enode. I have ripped my own purchased dvds and encoded them and it dosen't take but a few hours . Even a small show on ffmpegx or handbrake on simple settings took over 2 days to enocode and I finally cancelled the encode. I know my mac is older and slow but just wondered why something recorded on a stand alone would take forever to encode vs a "real dvd"?

doesn't make much sense.
and you;re comparing 'real dvd' vs recorded,
at the same framecount?
ask to be moved to the mac form btw,
so someone with hands on experience with the software you're using might help
