Just got a new NEC 3520 which is apparently not supported under Nero 5.5. Any options other than upgrading to the latest version of Nero or using another burning program? Thanks in advance.

    Why use Nero to burn?

Just use DVD Decrypter to burn.

    DVD decypter burns great.

Either make a disc image and burn with DVD Decrypter or make a DVD VIDEO_TS folder and run through DVD Shrink to make an image and DVD Shrink is now link to DVD Decrypter so once the image is creater DVD Shrink closes it self and Open DVD Decryper and burns the disc if you have a piece of blank media in the drive.

Using Shrink to make the image seems like an extra step and does require that you have twice as much harddrive space free, but I have a reason to do it this way.

usually when you create an image and your Harddrive is sort of ful it ends up being fragmented and after making lots of images and deleting them each image will be more fragmented than the one you made before.

What I do is I run Nero or what ever authoring Software I am using at the time and make a DVD VIDEO_TS folder or sometimes an image. But it will be fragmented.

So I run it through DVD Shrink and create an image. But while Shrink is running I also run Buzzsaw.exe which is an only the fly harddrive defragger it defragment files while they are created. It doesn't even slow down DVD shrink. Which suprised me.

but it does seem to slow down encoding software and Encoding already takes a long time.

Buzzsaw is part of the DIRMS Defragmenting package. I rarely use the actual DIRMS defragment since I end up with files that aren't very fragmented the built in Microsoft Defragger runs much faster and hasn't been unable to defragment any files since I started using Buzzsaw. DIRMS stands for Do It Right MicroSoft.

You can find DIRMS on Dowwload.com. DIRMS is DOS based and a pain to use. but it is effective. But like I said the Microsoft defragmenter works fine now hat I started using Buzzsaw while creating image through Shrink or When ripping and ISO using DVD Decrypter.

Buzzsaw is a lttle tricky because to have to run it though "Run..." on the Start menu. It actually has a GUI unlike DIRMS though.

Sorry I went off on a tangent there.
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.
