I just bought this Leadtek PVR2000 TV capture card with hardware MPEG 1,2 encoder.
I am having this sound problem in automatic start and stop timed TV recordings. Only happen with any hardware MPEG option is selected. The captured sound is badly distorted, it sounded like an overdriven amplifier, it is clipped and metallic sound like. If I chose any software MPEG option instead, the captured sound is perfect. There is no adjustments for hardware MPEG, just MPEG 1 or 2, no sound options.
Now, if I just click the record button to record TV with hardware MPEG, instead of using the start and stop time. The captured sound is ok every time.
This problem is only happening with scheduled start and stop timed TV recording with hardware MPEG encoder selected. I have installed this same card on two different PCs, both doing it.
Can anyone tell me if this is happening to your card? I have a feeling I have got a defective card.
By the way, I downloaded and installed the latest drivers.
I Emailed Leadtek about this sound trouble. I’ll see if they are aware of this the problem.

Leadtek tech told me to exchanged to another one from the store.
I exchanged to another one. But the new one is doing the same thing.
Does anyone in this forum has the same leadtek pvr2000 tv card?
Can you tell me you have no sound trouble doing scheduled tv capture in Hardware MPEG1 or 2?
I don't think it is my PCs. I have tried on two different PCs. One is AMD Athlon 1300XP, the other one is AMD Duron 1200. They both had build in sound cards. I even tried a stand alone Aopen PCI sound card, it is still doing the same thing. I know my computers are not powerful in to-day's standard, that's why I bought the hardware MPEG card. This is not working out for me. I am at a loss now.
I spend double the money to buy a hardware MPEG codec card, but I can not use it on schedule TV recording, this is not right. -
Got the Email back from Leadtek.
Don't buy this card, If you want scheduled Hardware TV captures. They can't fix this issue now. I am trying to get a refund from the store.
Dear Sir,
Good day!
Point is codec licence issue.
When we get it , will improve it.
We are sorry for your faced issue.
Best Regards
Leadtek Service

Hi,
I am glad to know that you can duplicate the sound trouble with this TV
card.
Please let me know when the update is available to fix the problem.
Thanks for your help.

No, thanks. I am not paying any more money for this toy. I have already paid too much for this card. Features that I pay for, but can't use.
I can't return it either, because I had passed the seven days store refund policy dead line. I spent last two weeks trying to figure out the problem. I didn't know it was a manufacture defect. They didn't completly test out the product before put it to the market. I should of return it earlier.
I am going back to my good old reliable VCR to record TV again.
This PC based recording seems like a good idea two week ago. I am not playing with it any longer, I don't want to pull any more hair out from my head. There are not much left.
