  7. mpeg2 works is great. I use DVD converter all the time for PAl to NTSC conversions. It does take awhile because your changing the frame rate which is not easy to do. Make sure all your other programs are closed and you select watch in terminal. This will help increase the speed but it does still take some time. Have fun!!!

  8. Let's just make a CONSERVATIVE estimate that your time is worth 10.00 an hour. You can easily BUY a decent DVD player that will handle PAL DVD's, VCD's, and SVCD's for around 40.00 US. OR, you can spend hundreds of hours of your time trying to convert from PAL to NTSC, so you can have frame drops, skips and sync issues. My APEX 1225 cost me 39.99, and can handle any DVD, VCD or SVCD I throw at it. One less video conversion hassle solved. It's also easily hacked as an all region player.

Just burn the MPG as is to a DVD with Toast 6 or whatever. Then you'll have a PAL DVD.

Most DVD players can output an understandable stream to a TV from either NTSC or PAL on the fly. I do this all the time and no transcending is necessary. The TV is not significant in this transaction, it depends on the DVD Player. The cheaper the better in my experience.

None of my DVD players will do it. I have a new Toshiba DVD player, my PS2 with the Region X disc and a JVC DVD player that will not do this either.

That is how i found out it was a PAL MPG by burning it first and trying to play it.

    Thanks for the help.

  12. Then it's another issue entirely as to why it won't play. Also, a little more info as to what you're trying to do would be helpful. MPEGWorks does do good stuff, but I think ffmpegX blows it away in terms of ability to handle anything you throw at it. If you've got an all region player, use ffmpegX to convert your file to VCD, using the ffmpeg preset, and burn. It should work fine.
