Hi. I have 2 avi files and the subs (idx files) that came with them, the thing is I can play the AVI's just fine via media player 9/divx player/windows media player classic but the subs don't appear, I have enabled subs in Windows Media Player 9 but still no subs show up on screen.

Any help on getting the subs working greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi again, I deleted the wrong subs and cant get them back. I have downloaded some other subs but they are .srt files. Is there a way I can save .srt (new files) so I can use those in media player? I tried changing them into .sub with subresync but they won't display, have also tried a few other extentions in the list. with the idx files I had a lot more "save as" options.

    Ughs!

    Thanks.

Hi again, I've been searching the threads now for hours and can't seem to find a solution, is this not possible?

    Thank you.

  5. Hi-

Well, you could try and use a real player (no, not RealPlayer) instead of that bloated piece of garbage that comes with Windows. Some of them even have their own subtitle engine included (BSPlayer, for example, among others).

However, have you made sure to name the SRT file the same as the movie (Movie.avi and Movie.srt)? When the green arrow shows up down in the SysTray, that's a sign that they should work.

There's always the chance that your SRTs are corrupt or something, and may still not work. And there's a big difference between the SUB text based files, and the IDX/SUB image based files. They're not at all the same thing.

But seriously, if I were you I would make a much better player, such as Media Player Classic (not the Windows 6.4 one), your default player.
